India’s centuries-old heritage of scent is propelling a modern fragrance industry that already contributes significantly to the global market and is expanding at an impressive 11 percent a year. Against this backdrop, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) will host the fourth edition of its flagship International Fragrance Business Summit on August 20, 2025, in Mumbai.

Under the theme “The Fragrance Industry: Driving Innovation & Powering Growth,” the day-long summit will unite stakeholders from every link in the value chain: natural-resource growers, ingredient suppliers, perfume houses, downstream companies, regulators, researchers, and international partners. The inaugural session will feature a high-profile dais that includes senior government leaders, heads of statutory bodies, President IFRA, distinguished industry partners and FICCI Fragrance Task-Force co-chairs, setting the tone with keynote insights on policy priorities and market potential.

Four focused technical sessions slated in the summit are as follow:

  1. Aroma Mission – A CSIR Perspective
Directors from six Council of Scientific & Industrial Research institutes including CIMAP, IITR and NBRI will outline progress on the Government of India’s Aroma Mission, which promotes cultivation of aromatic crops in 15 geo-climatic zones and accelerates R&D on value-added extracts.
  2. Showcasing India at the Forefront of the Global Fragrance Industry
Upstream and downstream companies, academics, diplomats, and experts will discuss India’s competitive edge in natural ingredients, manufacturing capabilities and export opportunities.
  3. Biodiversity: Conservation and Sourcing Balance
Representatives from the National Biodiversity Authority, Government of India and leading consultants will examine how companies can secure sustainable supply while protecting ecosystems and local livelihoods.
  4. Fragrance Safety Harmonization: Enabling Global Standards and Consumer Trust
Policymakers from the Departments of Chemicals and BIS, dermatologists, regulatory specialists, and the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) will explore pathways to align India’s safety standards with international norms and reinforce consumer confidence.

Building on the success of previous editions, the 2025 summit is poised to spark meaningful dialogue on innovation, sustainability, and regulation, while spotlighting India’s ambition to become an essential hub in the global fragrance landscape. Attendees can expect practical takeaways, new partnerships, and a shared roadmap for harnessing India’s potential to power future growth.
